Warri Kingdom

The Ìtsẹkírì (also called the Isekiri, Ijekri, Itsekri, Ishekiri or Itsekhiri ) is an ethnic group of Nigeria's Niger Delta area.
Ìtsẹkírì wé ( kẹrẹn tá kpé wún Ìṣẹkírì, Ìjẹkrì, Ìtsẹkrì, Ìshẹkírì wẹrẹ Ìtsẹkhírì ) ká tsé àjà ẹwọ ró tó wí ẹwẹlẹ ùbó tá kpé wún Niger Delta.

The Ìtsẹkírì as a people, make up Iwere land, whose principal Homeland is the Warri kingdom ( Iwere land ) that comprises the three Warri Local Government Areas ( LGAs ), including some communities outside the three LGAs such as, Ugbolokposo, in Uvwie Local Government Area and some Ìtsẹkírì towns, communities and settlements in Central Senatorial District in Delta State of Nigeria, such as, Efurokpe, Oyeaja (also called Aja - Ọmọnẹúkánrìn), Ibirifo, Efo, Ekwobodo, Ifole (also called Aja – Imene), Aja – titon, Aja - ifutughe and Aja - Uduaghan, all in Ethiope-West LGA of Delta State of Nigeria. There are also Ìtsẹkírì towns and communities on the banks of the rivers Ossiomo and Ogba, in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State of Nigeria: Ologbo, Ikara, Ajatiton, Kolokolo, Ajoki and Ajamogha.

Our History

The Itsekiri Trust Fund

The setup of The Itsekiri Trust Fund received royal approval from His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, and the board was constituted, on the 7th of July 2020. This was preceded by a presentation of the Vision 2030 document and its royal pronouncement as Itsekiri Vision 2030 document by His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, the Olu of Warri.

 

The inauguration of the Board of Trustees took place on the 20th of August 2020 at Aghofen, the palace of the Olu of Warri, in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria.

 

Subsequently, the board of trustees proceeded to execute the royal mandate and resolved to kick off with the following programs for the benefit of Itsekiri.

We are a non-profit and non-political organization established by His Majesty, Ogiame, The Olu of Warri, for the prosperity of the Itsekiri people

OUR GOALS

  • To leverage the key strengths in Itsekiri people, land, natural resources, and the royal monarchy

  • To launch game-changing private sector initiatives focused on sustainability, indigenous-led development and quality of life

  • To create revenue-generating investments by decarbonising the Nigeria Energy Sector with renewable power, and gas anti-flare assets

  • To reduce carbon emission and carbon footprint in Iwereland, for a sustainable environment for the Itsekiri people

    • Source of ITF funding and investment policy shall be publicly disclosed
